Dear Fellow Practitioners,
Most of you will know that I retired as Head of Restructuring & Insolvency at KPMG in July 2016, as a result of a period of poor health, which I am now trying to put behind me.
Having set up a consulting business on my own account, and with the intention over time that I would take the odd insolvency appointment, I started looking around at what options there were for an insolvency practice management system, particularly with the advent of the yet to be finalised Code of Professional Conduct and prospective regulatory changes.
I was aware from my UK days that there was a provider of a system that charged on the basis of a case by case licence fee, on-charged as a disbursement as opposed to a firm overhead. This was particularly attractive to me, on the basis that I had low expectations as to how many appointments I might take in a year, with an annual licence being somewhat prohibitive.
As chance would have it, I approached Visionblue Solutions (http://www.visionbluesolutions.com/) about having a peek at their system to see whether it was something that could be converted easily to the NZ jurisdiction. Timing was immaculate as it corresponded to when they had already started on a path to branching out into other jurisdictions.
So, having been given a demonstration of the system, and challenging the hosting arrangements and a few other things, I recognised that they were very keen to launch their system in NZ, they demonstrated first-hand that were prepared to expend time and money, not only on me helping them to convert their system in the first instance, but also to react to the real needs of their clients in terms of accessibility, speed and platform design. Despite the small size of the insolvency market in NZ, they have proven that they are fully committed to having a successful launch over here, and provide NZ practitioners will an effective real-time system on competitive terms.
Initially we are looking to attract a couple of firms to help out with the final touches to the system, finalise work packs and documents and the like.
We are hosting a launch event at 1.00pm on 20th October 2017 at Generator NZ, Level 1, 22-28 Customs Street East, Auckland for insolvency practitioners to meet some of the Visionblue team over from Dublin, and see a quick demonstration of the system. Lunch and drinks will be provided, followed by a half hour or so, introduction and video presentation.
